Monthly Book Roundup: February 2024

Hello and welcome to the blog! I’ve really gotten back into reading the last two years, and I thought it would be fun to document my reads on the blog! Fantasy has always been my genre of choice, but I also love a fun quick romance read between series with a bit more world-building. This year I also want to dip my toe into some dark mystery, if you have any recommendations! I would love to know what you’re reading, let me know in the comments below or DM me on Instagram. I also track my books on StoryGraph, as a scientist I just love all the data they compile from your books! If you’re on StoryGraph, let’s be friends! Let’s get into the books I’ve read and listened to this month!

My kindle setup. Remote Control Page Turner. Gooseneck kindle holder.

  1. House of Flame and Shadow (Crescent City Book 3)

Author: Sarah J. Maas Format: Digital

    • Crescent City 3 brought the action and tied up A LOT of loose ends, this book definitely felt like the end of a story (but there might be another book??). Bad guys were put in their place and the main characters came into their own. For those of you reading this book to get an idea of what’s happening in another SJM universe….it doesn’t really tell you much. I ended up liking some of the characters more after reading this book, so that’s a win. I would have liked a little more darkness and sacrifice from the main characters, but overall it was a good read!

  2. Things We Left Behind (Knockemount 3) *Favorite of the month*

    Author: Lucy Score Format: Digital

    • This is the last book in the Knockemount series, which follows a group of friends in a small town who are pulled into crime drama while also pairing off and falling in love. This was my favorite book in the series. I love the main character’s love story; it’s giving second chance romance, enemies to lovers, and mystery. I found Lucian and Sloane intriguing from book 1, so getting to know their past and seeing how their story unfolds was SO entertaining. This book was a very quick read for me and I would read it again! Also, the spice was on point!

  3. The Midnight Library

    Author: Matt Haig Format: Audiobook

    • There is a library that has millions of books, all of which are a different version of the main character’s life. The main character Nora is struggling with anxiety, depression, and is considering suicide. She arrives in the library after attempting to take her life, the library is a sort of limbo. She has many regrets and the library offers the chance for her to see what life would have been like if she made different choices. She could choose to stay in one of the other lives and continue living, but will she? This book made me think about my life, things I would want to change, and my future. I enjoyed listening to this book, but I do think it oversimplified depression and suicidal thoughts.

  4. Gold(The Plated Prisoner Series Book 5)

    Author: Raven Kennedy Format: Digital

    • In progress… will check back in next month!
