Future Projects

Hello and welcome to the blog! It has been a while since I’ve completed a home project due to some health problems, but I’m starting to get back into the swing of things! I made a huge list of DIY projects I would like to tackle in the upcoming months, and I’m going to share a few of my ideas here. Some of these projects have been on my mind for quite a while, and I can’t wait to get started!

Refinish Passthrough Countertop

When I worked on our patio makeover for ORC spring 2022, I really wanted to do something new with our passthrough countertop but I didn’t have the time or budget for it. As a stand-alone project, this should be much more manageable. I’d like to work on this during the cooler months.

Decorate Accent Wall In Entryway

In 2022 I completed this beautiful double batten accent wall in my entryway, you can check out the blog here to see how I did it. When you walk into my house, this wall is the first thing you see. I love the look of this wall, but I never decided on how I wanted to decorate this area. I am in the process of building an entryway table for this spot, then I can finally wrap this space up!

Refinish Steamer Trunk

I’ve had this steamer trunk since I was in middle school, I have always thought it’s so cool, and I don’t think I’ll ever get rid of it. However, when I first got it, it had multiple layers of paint showing and was pretty beat up, so my Dad and I painted it white. It held up for quite a long time, but it’s time for a bit of love. I think the original color of the trunk was black, so that is the color I would like to paint it. I’m really excited about this project, it should be a quick and easy one, but since the piece is so special, it means a little more.

Living Room Refresh

I have been slowly working on changing our living room space since I removed the chair rail last year and painted the walls, but I would love to do something cool with the bay window area and the TV wall.

Kitchen Refresh

A couple of years ago my husband and I replaced the backsplash and countertop in our kitchen, which made a HUGE difference! Now I need to trim out a few details and maybe add some small shelves. I have debated painting the kitchen cabinets for a long time. However, I am still undecided, so we will see if this refresh turns into a full-blown makeover by painting the cabinets when I get to this project.

Refinish or Replace the Front Door

My husband and I have talked about replacing our front door since we bought this house. Since we plan to replace it at some point, I haven’t re-stained or painted the door, but with the rest of the house getting a refresh, I would like the door to look nicer as well. The outside of the door definitely needs some work too!

DIY Kayak Storage

We currently store our kayaks on our patio, and they take up a lot of space. I would like to build a storage solution outside of my shed so they don’t take up any of our living space.

Primary Bedroom & Closet Makeover

The primary bedroom is the most neglected room in our house (hence why I didn’t include a photo of it currently, lol). I would really like the space to be more put together and feel more calming. I will likely work on this project in early 2024! Our closet is huge, but totally non-functional. I would love to tackle the closet sooner rather than later, I’m working on a plan!
